How to Install Your Auto Armor Mats
Installation takes about 10 minutes. Follow every step before you drive.
A mat that moves out of place can get in the way of the brake, accelerator or clutch pedal and cause an accident.
- Remove all existing floor mats from the vehicle before installing Auto Armor Mats.
- Install each mat carefully and secure it with the supplied retention clips.
- Make sure the mat does not shift after installation. Check it again after your first drive.
Do not use Auto Armor Mats if these conditions cannot be met.
Before Installation
Flatten Your Mats
- Unpack every mat. Lay each mat flat, top side up, on a clean, level surface.
- Remove packaging creases. Mats can hold creases from packaging and shipping. If any creases remain, leave the mat in a warm room, or in the sun for a short time, with a flat, heavy object on the creased area until it relaxes.
- Install only when completely flat. A curled or lifting mat can bunch up near the pedals.
Do not use a heat gun, open flame or very hot surface. Excess heat can damage the mat.
Installation
Driver Mat
- Move the seat. Slide the driver seat all the way back and raise it as high as it will go.
- Position the mat. Place the mat in the footwell. Line up the mat's clip holes with the factory anchor points on the vehicle carpet, if your vehicle has them. If not, skip to step 4.
- Secure the clips. Once aligned, secure the mat to each anchor point with the supplied retention clips. How they attach may vary by vehicle (push, hook or twist).
- Flatten and tuck. Press the mat flat against every surface of the footwell. Tuck the rear edge under the seat rails and make sure nothing blocks it (levers, rails, pedals).
- Check the pedals. Press each foot pedal through its full travel (brake, accelerator and clutch, if equipped) to confirm the mat does not touch or restrict any pedal. If it does, remove the mat and reinstall it.
Before driving, fully press the brake, accelerator and clutch (if equipped). No pedal should touch or be restricted by the mat.
